You know that feeling when you find a café that just gets everything right—the coffee’s perfect, the food’s even better, and the vibe makes you want to cancel the rest of your day? Well, India’s got a fresh crop of them, and we’ve rounded up some of the best ones to check out. From burrata-topped pizzas to mom-style parathas and Malaysian kaya toast, these new cafes are redefining your next coffee run. Whether you're craving a historic mansion vibe, a hidden gem with soul-warming street snacks, or just a seriously good cup of single-estate coffee, here’s where you need to be headed next.
Café Fleur, New Delhi
From designer Varun Bahl, this recent addition to their store in Mehrauli has quickly become a favourite among shoppers and store owners. Perhaps the single-estate organic medium roast sourced directly from local growers in Karnataka has something to do with it. Or perhaps it is their burrata-topped pizza with a mille-feuille base, the banana tea cake paired with crème anglaise, and every one of their croissant offerings.
Coromandel Cafe, Puducherry
Of course, you were expecting Pondy-style vintage architecture, and the Coromandel Cafe delivers. In a Palladian-style mansion stands the cafe, replete with dull rose, green murals, restored furniture, and statement chandeliers—but it changes from room to room. If you’re looking for a hearty all-day breakfast menu with a bit of Franco-Tamil and European zhuzh, look no further.
The Café – By Omah, Pune
You say shakshuka makhni and souffle protein paratha, and you’ve got us hooked. You say mom-style chicken keema paratha and chicken tandoori potli, and you have us salivating. Add a perfect cup of coffee, and you have us sold.
NMACC Arts Cafe, Mumbai
When hunger strikes, and we are certain it will as you roam the three storeys of the NMACC Art House, you may consider a coffee break amongst the arts. At the Arts Cafe, Isha Ambani marries her love for the arts and her memories of food—expect classics from around the world, along with a twist. There is the traditional fanfare of French onion soup, Neapolitan pizzas, Thai curry, and mezze platters, but also a modern parsnip and carrot salad in a tofu dressing with a curry leaf tadka, and shishito peppers in a mix of miso and crisp quinoa.
Kopitiam, Bengaluru
Okay, if you haven’t heard of it already, this one by Joonie Tan and David D’Souza is India’s first Malaysian kopitiam (aka coffee shop). Simple, minimalistic, and chic, the memo is clear—you better be here for the food. You have your traditional breakfast serves, street snacks, and, of course, the classics—kaya toast, nasi lemak, roti canai, roti bakar, pandan French toast—but it’s the coffee you just cannot miss. PS: Be sure to pre-book.
Philtre And Co, Lucknow
Nestled in a restored 19th-century structure and designed by Atelier Varun Goyal, this new spot spells Indo-Saracenic, Gothic Roman, and British Colonial. And while we can’t help but stop a while to appreciate the interiors complete with a sculptural neem tree in the courtyard, chikankari lampshades, Finn-Juhl style chairs and sofas, and other mid-century accents, we’re here for the food. Of course, this is an espresso bar, so coffee is a must, but their pizzas are quite something, as is their mac and cheese and bagel sandwich.
